This is Technology Bytes, episode 148, for January 4th, 2026.
Technology Bytes is a microcast where I share brief bites on interesting technology.
Enjoy, and here we go.
I don’t really have any technology to share with you this first week of the new year, but the word that I thought of was being open to what may be happening in the future, whether near or distant.
But then I thought, well, not too open.
I do live in a technology environment that is basically Apple products, and I’m not sure I’m going to stray too much from that.
In fact, I don’t think I’ll stray from that at all.
But in that, to be open to what is happening in the technology world, to be anticipatory.
Oh, there’s a good $10 word, maybe.
And to see what might be down the road.
What is on the horizon, so to speak?
What things happen that I might want to be involved in?
And there are things that are relative to those potential happenings that impact my ability to interact with technology.
One of those is cost.
I have a limited budget, so if Apple releases a bunch of products, there’s no guarantee that I’m going to be able to buy any of that.
Another is time.
I often don’t have a lot of extra time.
Maybe I could make more extra time if I needed, but that is part of the technology stack.
It’s time to do those, you know, the time it takes to be involved in whatever technology might be down the road.
And then also looking at evaluation of what is presented.
Does it make sense?
Does it seem to fit into my world?
Does it make sense for me?
Does it progress where I’m at?
Does it help me be a better person?
Does it help me be a more involved person in the world, not to take me out of it?
And then does it provide assistance to make me better at what I do?
Does it help me to be more intentional in what I do?
To take care of maybe some of the smaller things so that I can focus on some of the bigger things.
And then also does it help me grow as a person, as a coworker, as a employee, as a Christian in my life, as a dad, as a grandpa, as a husband?
All those things involved in how I use technology.
I don’t need technology to make me a better person, but can I use it and through that use become a better person?
Become more involved, become better aware, become whatever it may look like.
So as I go into this year, I’m open, there’s anticipation, there’s potential.
The world is my oyster, as it were.
It’s a technology world that’s open to adventure, that’s open to exploration.
And I’m looking forward to whatever occurs over the coming months.
That is all I have for today.
